6 Quick Questions to Target Your Market

http://pballc.weebly.com/blog/6-quick-questions-to-target-your-market

When it comes to locating your ideal customer there are many questions you need to ask yourself. These questions will help you think critically about how to reach them to meet their needs. Now this sounds easier said than done, but it is necessary. This process is going to require your time and attention. Focus on each question and take the time to focus on how to meet their need. After all that is what they are looking for, a business/service provider that can meet a specific need they have.

Now, get out your pad and pen.

  1. What are the age and demographics of your ideal customer?
  2. What are these customers looking for? – Coupons, deals, advice, tutorials, how-to, inspiration, technical information, community and so on?
  3. How often are they online? Hourly, daily, weekly, only on the weekends, after the kids go to bed?
  4. Where do they go online – Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Google or Bing searches, or email?
  5. Do these customers do research online? Do they buy on or offline?
  6. Do your ideal customers belong to any existing community (online or off line) – book clubs, networking events, buying clubs, community-based groups, meet up groups, business groups, religious organization/church, or public service groups, or social media groups?

Once you have completed this process you should have a clearer picture of who you are here to service and how to service them to meet their needs. If you need more assistance Pharice Brown & Associates, LLC is here to assist. For a complementary 15 minute brainstorming session contact us here.

~ Here’s to helping you move closer to your dream.

Beware - Interview Dont’s

Your goal is to close the deal and get the job and the hardest sell you are going to do is sell yourself. Beware and stay away from these job blockers.

□          Take responsibility for your decisions and your actions. Don’t make excuses.

□          Don’t make negative comments about previous employers, professors, co-workers,
            etc.

 □         Don’t falsify application information or give false statements during the interview.

□          Don’t treat the interview casually, only take the interview if you are truly interested
            in the position and organization.

□          Don’t give the impression you are only interested in an organization because of the
salary. Only after the interviewer mentions it then you can discuss it.

□          Don’t act as though you are desperate for employment and will take any job.

□          Don’t be unprepared for standard interview questions. ex. Where do you see
            yourself in 10 years?

□          A job search can be frustrations; don’t exhibit frustrations or a negative attitude on
telephone screening or in the interview.

□          Don’t slouch or sit rigidly on the edge of your chair. Relax and sit comfortably with a
straightened back and good eye contact.

□          Don’t assume that a female interviewer is “Mrs.” or “Miss”.  Address her as “Ms.”
unless specified.  If she has a Ph.D. or other doctoral degree, use “Dr. and her last
            name”.

□          Don’t chew gum or smell like smoke. Don’t suck on mints or candy during the
            interview.

□          Don’t allow your cell phone to ring and disrupt the interview. If by chance it does
quickly turn it off and apologize and then move back into the interview .

□          Don’t take your children, friend, neighbor, parent, your pet (a service animal is not
considered a pet in this case), spouse, fiancĂ© or anyone else to an interview.

Relax, be confident and show them you are well qualified and why you are the best person for the position. You will do great.

~ Here’s to you closing the deal.

Knock ‘Em Dead - Interview Do’s

Relax, be confident and show them you are well qualified and why you are the best person for the position. You will do great.

□          Dress appropriately for the industry; if you are unsure what dress is appropriate be               conservative - show you take the interview seriously.  Your personal grooming and               hygiene should be impeccable.

□          Know the exact time and location of your interview; know how long it takes to get                 there, park, find a restroom to freshen up and put your best you forward.

□         Arrive early; 15 minutes prior to the interview start time. 30 minutes if you have to                  complete an application.

□          Treat people you encounter with courtesy and respect. Their opinions of you could
            be solicited during hiring process.

□          Offer a firm hands shake, make eye contact, and smile when you are greeted by
            your interviewer.

□          Be sure to listen and understand the interviewer’s name and correct pronunciation.

□          When your interviewer gives you their first and last name, address your interviewer
by title (Ms., Mr., Dr.) and last name until invited to do otherwise.

□          Have paper and pen to take notes. You want to make sure to note all important
            information.

□          Maintain good eye contact throughout the interview.

□          Avoid fidgeting and slouching in your seat.

□          Refrain from chewing gum and eating mints during the interview.

□          Listen carefully, respond to questions and back up your statements with specific
            examples whenever possible.

□          Don’t be afraid to ask for clarification if you don’t understand a question.

□          Be your best professional self and be honest.  Dishonesty will be found out and is
grounds for withdrawing job offers and for firing if discovered after offer.

□          The interviewer is evaluating you as a prospective co-worker. Exhibit a positive
attitude. Behave like someone you would want to work with.

□          Be prepared with intelligent questions to ask the interviewer.  You would have
done your research about the employer in advance, ask questions you did not find                 an answer to in your research.

□          Interviews are a two-way street. Evaluate the interviewer as well as the
organization s/he represents.  Be cordial and respectful, think critically about the                   way you are treated and observe organizational environment.

□          Don’t be afraid to ask for the job. This shows you are secure and you are truly
interested in the position and organization. The interviewer will not expect this so
             speak with confidence.

□          Be clear on the next step in the hiring process; know when and from whom you
should expect to hear next.  Know what action you are expected to take next, if any.

□          When the interviewer concludes the interview, make good eye contact and close
             with a firm handshake.

□          Send a, if possible, handwritten thank-you letter to your interviewer promptly.

~ Here’s to helping you close the deal and get the job!
